as from report no. 19 (2006) the ida worldwide desalting plants inventory reports will be published not any longer by Wangnick Consulting, but by

global water intelligence (GWI)

After 42 years of business in the field of seawater desalination, I decided to wind up my company by the end of 2006. In the course of 2007, I intended therefore to end all ongoing orders for the company.

Consequently, the company was delisted from the Commercial Register in January 2008.

Initially I wrote here the following:

"Here I must admit that I will be laying down my work with mixed emotions. On the one hand, I will have more leisure time to spend with my family and my hobbies but, on the other, the work in seawater desalination is simply fascinating: “It is impossible not to be captivated by seawater desalination.” Moreover, I am proud to have contributed to the construction of the largest seawater desalination plants ever built.

Over the years, I travelled to many countries and met many interesting people, for which I still have the greatest respect and admiration. These include the outstanding personalities in state institutions as well as the extremely qualified specialists at the suppliers of seawater desalination plants.

If I could start all over, I would certainly choose to work in seawater desalination once again."

After my before described decision was published, a number of clients contacted me in order to get services from the now pensioner Klaus Wangnick. After carefully thinking the honourable offer over, I decided to still work at reduced time and from case to case as a desalination expert (WANGNICK CONSULTING).

In the meantime I worked for a number of clients and handled very interesting projects, the latest was in 2010 the part on thermal desalination for the Qatar Solar Desalination Project. This is a multi billion Dollar undertaking and, if realized, will be the largest solar energy and desalination project in the world.
